When we first started building our vision for the future, we knew that traditional urban infrastructure wasn’t keeping pace with the demands of modern technology. Today, I am incredibly proud to share that Smart Optimal Solutions America (SOS) has officially been named the 20th fastest-growing private company by the Portland Business Journal for 2026. Featured prominently on the publication’s top 100 fastest-growing private companies list, this achievement underscores our team’s relentless commitment to innovation, quality, and service in smart technology and renewable energy across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. Operating directly at the intersection of clean energy, emerging technology, and intelligent urban design, SOS has experienced remarkable, continued growth despite challenging market landscapes. In 2025, we were honored to debut on the list in the 28th position. Climbing to the top 20 this year proves that our visionary approach to modernizing urban environments is deeply resonating with our customers and communities.

Designing the Cities of Tomorrow
At SOS, we define a “Smart City” as any environment—urban or rural, public or private—that requires connectivity, system integration, and supplemental energy to operate optimally. Whether we are partnering with municipalities, urban planners, commercial developers, facilities managers, HOAs, Churches or universities, we are seeing a massive shift away from traditional, siloed infrastructure in favor of self-sufficient, data-driven alternatives. A core driver of our growth is this changing philosophy surrounding public assets. Rather than viewing infrastructure through a singular lens, we champion “sustainable infrastructure” as the foundational blueprint for urban development. We firmly believe that no smart city network can truly be “smart” without a robust, decentralized renewable energy strategy. Without it, systems face critical risks of power insufficiency, forcing an inefficient, ongoing reliance on a centralized power grid. We eliminate this dependency entirely by deploying smart systems engineered to maximize energy yield while simultaneously reducing municipal and organizational stress.

The “SOS Eco-System”: Technology-Enhanced Utilities
The absolute cornerstone of our market expansion is our suite of self-sufficient hardware, most notably our patented, German-engineered Agamine Smart Solar Streetlights.
Conventional solar lamps rely on flat panels that are highly susceptible to dust, sand, and snow accumulation, which severely degrades performance over time. We solved this problem by utilizing a unique, vertical 360-degree cylindrical photovoltaic power tube. This sleek, monocrystalline design captures both direct and indirect sunlight from all directions while remaining completely self-cleaning—guaranteeing high performance even in extreme weather conditions.
Crucially, we design these poles to serve as multi-functional connectivity enablers. Rather than simply illuminating a roadway, a single tech-enhanced pole can seamlessly integrate a wide array of smart features:
- Mobility & Public Safety: We integrate 360° surveillance cameras equipped with AI analytics—enabling advanced capabilities like crowd detection and license plate recognition—alongside emergency 911 calling stations.
- Digital Connectivity: We embed high-speed public Wi-Fi mesh networks directly into the infrastructure to help bridge digital equity gaps and attract local foot traffic.
- Community Engagement: Our weather-proof LED displays are capable of streaming vital public interest updates or generating recurring, localized advertising revenue.
- Environmental Monitoring: We incorporate hyper-local weather station and environmental sensors that provide real-time, actionable data on air quality, CO2 levels, and noise compliance.
By consolidating these disparate technologies into a single, plug-and-play pole, we help our clients significantly reduce total project costs, decrease the physical footprint of urban utilities, and achieve aggressive ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) targets.
National and Global Distribution Network
To support our rapid growth trajectory, we have scaled our physical and operational capacities aggressively. Headquartered in Vancouver, Washington, we operate out of a 10,000-square-foot warehouse backed by a robust national and global distribution network.
We also maintain two dedicated Technology Innovation Centers—located right here in Vancouver, Washington, as well as in Orlando, Florida with future Centers planned for other cities in the US and Internationally. These spaces allow us to provide immersive product showrooms, deliver hands-on education regarding smart technology and renewable energy, and serve as hubs for community outreach and collaboration.
Today, our team includes 36 dedicated members operating globally. Alongside our specialized subsidiaries—such as NetZero Energy LLC and Kendu Construction Inc., our certified minority division—we have the agility and capability to support projects at every single scale. We handle everything from facility-level retrofits for hospitals and schools to outfitting master-planned HOA communities and designing comprehensive, citywide open-data platforms. As public and private sectors race to replace aging, energy-inefficient systems, we stand behind our deployments with an authoritative promise: a guaranteed 98% system uptime paired with scalable maintenance tiers ranging from basic cloud monitoring to our premium, AI-powered Smart City Assurance.
Looking Ahead

Securing the 20th spot on the Portland Business Journal’s list is an incredible milestone for us, but it is also validation of a much larger trend: sustainable urban intelligence has officially moved from a future luxury to an immediate commercial and civic necessity.
