Our Story
Every signal starts
with someone listening.
SOS — Smart Optimal Solutions — takes its name from the oldest call for help there is. Before it was a company, it was a response: to communities running on aging infrastructure, to the gap between what technology can do and who actually gets to use it.
Where it began
Four callings.
One answer.
SOS was founded by four people who arrived at the same calling from four different directions. Brought together by shared faith and a conviction that business is a tool for good, this coalition brings aerospace-grade systems discipline and pioneering energy and business expertise to deliver what no single-product vendor can: one complete, integrated smart infrastructure stack.

Spent a lifetime building institutions that shaped generations of Americans.

Spent years discipling and training Christian entrepreneurs across multiple continents, helping them to build business as a tool for good.

Spent over 500 days in space, looking down at a planet God entrusted to us — and came home ready to build.

Founded NetZero Energy and spent over a decade pioneering the shift to sustainable power u2014 before merging the company into SOS in 2025.

Our philosophy
Profit that points
somewhere.
We call our model Redemptive Entrepreneurship — the conviction that a company can be built with full commercial discipline and still exist for something bigger than its own growth. It’s not a slogan bolted onto the business after the fact; it’s the reason the business exists. Every SOS deployment is a transaction. It’s also a mechanism — revenue that funds infrastructure also funds the Foundation that trains the next generation of builders in the communities we serve.
Every founder on this team would describe it the same way: stewardship, not ownership. You’ll hear it most vividly from Col. Jeff Williams, below — a conviction he carried home from 500 days spent looking down at the planet we’re stewarding.

Leadership
A view from orbit.
A conviction that came home with him.
“All of that is a stewardship. It’s a stewardship of what God provides us. It’s a stewardship of the doors the Lord opens for each of us in our calling in life. And that includes stewardship of the natural world around us and the provision within it.”
— Col. Jeff Williams, CEO, on the convictions that grew during 500+ days in orbit
Col. Jeff Williams spent his career applying systems engineering discipline to problems where failure isn’t an option — building and operating the International Space Station, and studying the planet it orbits every 90 minutes. That vantage point left him with a conviction he carried home: SOS isn’t in the business of selling a product line and walking away.
Why this coalition matters
Four things
no competitor can claim.
Exclusive asset
The Agamine Pole Monopoly
North American exclusivity on the world’s most advanced cylindrical solar pole. No one else can sell or install it here.
Full stack
The Complete Integrator
Pole, solar, EV, LED, display, IoT — one system. SOS is the only vendor a city needs; others sell parts.
Market position
Building Where No One Else Will
While others compete for retrofit contracts in saturated markets, SOS builds smart cities from the ground up across Africa.
Mission DNA
A Redemptive Enterprise
The only infrastructure company where every contract also funds community transformation.
How we got here
We started local.
We built for scale.
SOS began as a regional operation and grew into a multi-country enterprise spanning North America and Africa — not by chasing size, but by proving the model works and repeating it. Today that means Technology Innovation Centers, an integrated product ecosystem, and a growing footprint of communities running on SOS infrastructure across two continents.

Where the profit goes
Infrastructure builds cities.
People build futures.
Every commercial success funds the SOS Global Foundation, and through it, the SOS Smart City Academy — training the entrepreneurs, technicians, and civic leaders who will run the next generation of smart infrastructure in their own communities. We’re not just deploying technology and leaving. We’re building the local capacity to sustain it.

What this means for you
Built by people
who mean it.
When you work with SOS, you’re not just buying infrastructure from a vendor. You’re partnering with a company that measures success by what compounds after the install — in the grid, and in the people who maintain it.
